Sensory Garden for Allegheny Valley School

Allegheny School Sensory Garden

We have had many wonderful opportunities for our work to really impact the lives of those enjoying their new ‘Froggy Places’. One such opportunity was the sensory garden we had the privilege to be a part of for The Allegheny Valley School in 2013.

A private, non profit organization, The Allegheny Valley School provides opportunities for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Myron Cope, creator of the famed Steeler “Terrible Towel” championed its creation and sales to benefit the school.

As part of their full range of activities and services, the school built a 'sensory garden' on campus where there are sights, sounds, and textures for residents to experience and explore. We created a short stream and waterfall as part of the garden for visitors and residents to enjoy.
